A 7-year-old girl, who was reported missing on social media by her own mother, was found today, after a city-wide search which began yesterday.
The girl, known only as “Nong Om Yim”, was found safe and sound in the care of her mother at a condominium on Ratchadapisek Road in the Huai Khwang district of Bangkok.
Initially, police tried to contact the mother by phone, to get more information about the circumstances of the “disappearance” of her daughter, but she did not respond to the calls.
Then police searched all the places where the mother used to stay, but failed to locate her. They then learned that she has been staying at a condominium in Huai Khwang.
Police went to the room and knocked on the door, asking her to come out. It took about an hour of persuasion before she opened the door. The officers entered and found the “missing” girl safe and smiling.
Both mother and child were taken to Thonglor police station for an interview, in accordance with the procedure in missing person cases.
Pol Col Pansa Amaraphitak, the police superintendent, said that the woman claimed to be a single mother with a history of mental problems, adding that he will consult officials of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security about how to take care of the child.
