Cooler weather forecast for Thailand later this month

This year’s “cold” season is forecast to arrive in the third week of this month, with minimum temperatures expected to drop to 6-8oC in the northern and north-eastern regions and a minimum of between 16-18oC in Bangkok, according to the Meteorological Department.

This year is forecast to be colder than last year, with average minimum temperatures around 20oC in the northern and north-eastern regions. Minimum temperatures in Bangkok’s suburbs will be from 14-16oC and the coldest period will be from the beginning of December until early January.

Some very cold weather is anticipated in mountainous areas and frost will be frequent. The southern region will experience cool breezes, mostly in the northern part, and intense rainfall is forecast.

The central and eastern regions will be cool in December and January, especially in mountainous areas but, by mid-February, the weather will start to warm up, with isolated rainfall.

Meanwhile, the National Water Resources Office says that it is possible that Thailand may be hit by another tropical storm at the end of this month.

A low pressure cell could intensify into a tropical storm, move across the Gulf of Thailand and into the southern region in November, resulting in heavy rainfall and strong winds.

They can't mean temperatures of six degrees centigrade in October, surely?

I don't think they have a clue what they mean.

Probably due a cooler period in December/January than we've had in recent years.

Either they mean the top of Inthanon or someone mistakenly added the word "to".

Yeah, must be 'by' rather than 'to'.

^ Still seems a bit steep for October, especially since September temperatures were lower than average due to the storms. I think it only rose above 30C a couple of days in the whole month. Very unusual for us to be using a duvet in September.

Same here fans off , Using a duvet at night, aside from Inthanon, Phu Chi Fa peak and the uninhabited areas near border we are living in the one of the coolest part so of the realm , why I chose to be here and live calm with cooler tempered locals.

There has only been one hailstorm in my lifetime but erratic cold snaps seem more frequent . Until retired I was not here full time per year herebout talking with neighbours many seem relieved by some rain and cooler days.

While I have 2 air cons I haven't used them this year tho by the bills I think my wife had it on while I was in Europe over the summer.Other than 50 degrees in Spain , Qatar I don't like to sleep with Air Con.

I read somewhere a few locations counterintuitively may have lower temps as a result of general climate change.

    ^ Same happens here.

Take the batteries out of the aircon remotes before you go away next time.

Confession, I like AC, if its needed and beneficial its on, with all the rain takes the humidity out of the air, tell my wife to turn on AC, never complain about the bill, (apart from the taxes & cost per unit
Feel better for having got that off my chest.

Surely AC is a plot of the lizard people to fool us all into believing that climate change is real while subconsciously letting our guards down as we are vaccinated and micrcochipped?

    F’n Illuminati!

I run the dehumidifiers on the air cons more than for cold air.

There is a Finno Ugric linguistic solution no prepositions , Estonians Karelians just add on to the other words making it even harder to master .I

I had some hot times on the last Lapp a wonderful birch beating , roll in the snow post sauna then into a lake, a happy ending but a freezing Finnish.
