Pattaya Bolt Driver Arrested for Allegedly Raping 18-Year-Old Passenger

A Bolt driver in Pattaya was arrested by police after allegedly raping an 18-year-old passenger while she was drunk.

The suspect, Mr. Kob (real name withheld by police), was arrested at 2:36 AM on August 13th, 2024. The Bolt driver was handed over to Pattaya police by a large group of teenagers who knew the victim and pressured him to surrender.

According to the police report, Mr. Kob was accused of raping an 18-year-old woman, Ms. B (real name withheld to protect her privacy). Ms. B recounted the horrifying incident to police, saying that in May, she went out with friends for a drink and became intoxicated.

Ms. B used the Bolt app to call a ride, and the perpetrator, Mr. Kob, arrived on a white Honda PCX motorcycle. He dropped her off at her accommodation as per her request.

Upon reaching the apartment, Ms. B was still intoxicated, and the driver assisted her to her room. When she went to the bathroom to vomit, the Bolt driver allegedly confronted her, claiming she hadn’t paid the fare. He then reached into her bag and took money without her knowing how much he took.

Due to her intoxicated state, Ms. B lay on the bed, but the driver did not leave the room. Instead, he allegedly attempted to rape her. Despite her efforts to resist, her intoxication made her powerless against him. He succeeded in his assault before fleeing the room. After the incident, Ms. B immediately reported the crime to the police at Banglamung Police Station.

Following the report, Ms. B tried to contact the perpetrator, who reportedly admitted to the crime and attempted to negotiate with her. However, he then went into hiding. Her friends and older brother later found him waiting to pick up customers in a parking lot in South Pattaya. They detained him and handed him over to the police. Ms. B urged the police to take serious legal action against the perpetrator.

The suspect remains in custody at the time of reporting.

Does this firm hire their Pattaya drivers just prior to their temporary departure from the slammer?

They seem to regularly fall foul of the law.

Firm? It’s a platform that you sign up to with an uploaded licence and get paid weekly less commission paid to Bolt. This is Thailand so any requirement to produce evidence of no criminal convictions will simply be met irrespective of any previous rape, murder and drug dealing convictions or outstanding charges.

Christ, it’s a fucking medieval shithole with no functioning rule of law after all.

"firm" and "company" are different entities you dozy old tart.

a company is an incorporated business, a legal entity formed by individuals to engage in business activities, characterized by limited liability, separate legal status, and ownership through shares, can either be either a limited company or a public company, whilst a firm is an unicorporated business, usually a partnership.

bolt is an estonian mobility company.
