A former cannabis farm consultant from Poland was arrested in Pattaya for allegedly stealing LED panels worth over 370,000 baht from a cannabis farm in Chiang Mai province.
Pol. Col. Napasong Khositsuriyamanee, Superintendent of the Chonburi Immigration Office, led a team of investigators from San Sai Police Station to arrest Mr. Christopher Kazimierz Kasperowicz, a 37-year-old Polish national. He was apprehended while applying for a visa extension at the Pattaya Immigration Checkpoint.
On July 4th, 2024, the Chiang Mai Provincial Court issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Christopher after he reportedly stole 22 LED panels worth over 370,000 baht from a cannabis farm in San Sai district, Chiang Mai. The panels would be used for cannabis cultivation.
Pol. Col. Napasong revealed that Mr. Christopher had previously been a consultant for the farm. CCTV footage clearly captured the incident.
According to Pol. Col. Napasong, Mr. Christopher was angry after being terminated from his consultancy position by the farm for undisclosed reasons. He had also allegedly previously threatened to steal from the farm. On the night of the incident, he rented a pickup truck from Bangkok and drove to Chiang Mai to allegedly steal the LED panels. He then fled back to Bangkok.
The Chonburi Immigration Office was alerted by San Sai Police that Mr. Christopher had hidden in Pattaya. They began tracking him and observed him driving a motorcycle from his residence to the Pattaya Immigration Checkpoint to renew his visa. The police presented the arrest warrant and detained him.
Initially, Mr. Christopher denied the charges, claiming that the LED panels were his own investment in the cannabis farm and that he had no intention of stealing them. However, the police did not believe his statements and proceeded with the arrest according to the warrant. He was then handed over to San Sai Police Station’s investigative team for further legal proceedings.
