A 58-year-old British man was found hung in his condo bathroom in Sattahip, Chonburi, on the night of May 27th, 2024.
Sattahip police responded to a report of a possible suicide at a luxury condominium located behind the Bang Saray Market in the Bang Saray area.
Upon entering the room on the third floor, authorities discovered a deceased male British national, publicly identified by police as Mr. Michel Devalle, inside a bathroom. The victim was found to have hanged himself using a belt.
Sattahip police initially estimated that the victim might have passed away around 10 hours prior. No signs of physical violence were observed on his body.
The body was transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital in Bangkok for a full autopsy.
According to Pol. Lt. Col. Pattanann Somnuan, the investigating officer at the Sattahip Police Station, Mr. Devalle had reportedly been involved in an argument with his unidentified Thai girlfriend earlier that day. The girlfriend reportedly left the condominium around 3:00 AM. The condo caretaker grew concerned when Mr. Devalle did not leave his room or respond to phone calls. Upon checking the room, the caretaker found it locked and received no answer after knocking. Authorities were subsequently notified, leading to the discovery of Mr. Devalle’s body.
Sattahip police have notified the British Embassy and family about the incident. They are currently attempting to locate and question the girlfriend as part of their ongoing investigation.
