Thread: Police seeking two Scots in connection with Myanmar businessman’s murder

Police are looking for two Scottish men, accused by a Myanmar woman of killing her son and robbing him of about 5 million baht in cash at an apartment on Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Soi 4 on Tuesday night.


The woman, who was also assaulted, told Lumpini police that her son and the two Scots were partners in a money exchange business. She claimed that the pair came to her son’s apartment, located on the 23rd floor, and attacked both of them, knocking her unconscious.


She said that, when she woke up, she found her son was already dead in a pool of blood on the floor. She also claims that about five million baht in cash, stored in a safe, had gone.


Lumpini police said they are trying to obtain CCTV footage from the apartment building and the surrounding area before they can seek warrants for the arrests of the suspects.


Police also said that they are yet to determine the motive of the alleged murder.

Murder Investigation Launched in Bangkok: Two Scottish Suspects at Large Following Fatal Altercation

At 11:15 PM on February 13th, 2024, the Lumpini police received a report of a murder involving a Myanmar national at an apartment located in Soi Sukhumvit 4, Khlong Toei, Bangkok. Two Scottish suspects remained at large as the police investigation commenced.


Upon arriving at the crime scene, forensic teams and law enforcement officers discovered the body of Mr. Kayo Seyar, a 53-year-old Myanmar national, having sustained injuries to his face and having a significant bloodstain on his head. Additionally, authorities found luggage and a large safe deposit box as evidence in the case.

According to statements by the victim’s mother who was at the scene of the crime, whose identity was withheld by the police, her son had been engaged in business dealings with two Scottish individuals, identified only as Mr. John and Mr. William. The victim allegedly was asked by John and William to borrow 5 million baht, leading to the murder.

Following discussions in the Wat Phraya Krai area of Bangkok, the three of them returned to the apartment, resulting in the victim’s death and his mother being rendered unconscious by the suspects, as reported to the police.


Initially, the Lumpini police speculated that the murder was caused by a business dispute between the victim and the suspects, exacerbated by the alleged theft of 5 million baht, said the victim’s mother.

While preliminary examinations indicated wounds consistent with blunt force trauma, the police pledged to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of death and the underlying motives behind the murder.


Meanwhile, the police gathered CCTV footage and collaborated with Thai immigration officers to prevent the suspects from fleeing the country, ensuring that they would be held accountable for their alleged involvement in the crime.

The cause of the confrontation was related to a deal between the group of perpetrators and the deceased to buy counterfeit money. They had ordered silver dye powder and a safe, which they intended to use for the aforementioned plan. However, it is believed that they may have been duped and demanded a refund, but the criminal group refused to return the money, which led to the incident

Thai Police Pursue Foreign Murder Suspects Who Escaped to Turkey, International Collaboration Sought

On February 15th, 2024, Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawat, the deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, publicly revealed the progress of a case involving a Myanmar national who was allegedly murdered by two foreign suspects in an apartment room in Khlong Toei, Bangkok.

According to the police reports, Mrs. Tae Thewin, the witness at the crime scene, was under police interrogation including the issue of whether or not the 5 million baht of the victim’s money that was claimed to have been stolen had actually been taken.

The victim’s wife, whose name was withheld by the police, was a potential witness to confirm whether Tae’s statement was true or not. The police would investigate further the victim’s frequent travel from Yangon, Burma to Bangkok, Thailand with more than 52 times on record.


Upon police investigation, the police would gather evidence for the case which reportedly was assumed to be connected to another scam in Thailand. The business between the victim and the two foreign suspects may be a so-called “grey” business, according to the police.

The victim’s wife also told the police the same story that the victim withdrew money, 5 million baht, and it was stolen. Meanwhile, the investigative police investigated to track down the foreign suspects.


However, CCTV footage showed that the suspects fled to Singapore on February 14th, right after the murder, according to the police. There was also some debate over the suspects true nationality and whether they were actually Scottish, as originally reported by police, or from Cameroon.


Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin publicly revealed that Thai police requested collaboration from Singaporean authorities and received a report that the suspects had already further fled to Istanbul, Turkey on February 15th.

The police pledged to hold the suspects accountable for their crimes with collaboration from international police.


The pictures of the suspects were provided and released by Thai police.
