It's a question usually asked about 14 year olds that go on shooting rampages at schools in America.

Of course the answer is a complete lack of any meaningful gun control.

Quite easily, and you are welcome to blame the parents.

Around 8 years ago, when I was renting a house in a moo ban, there was a 'moo ban leader' who spoke English, and always came to me to address the racist complaints of the other residents. Apparently he was high up with Chevron. Should be somewhat educated, right? Who cares...

Anyway, my younger Brother was friends with his Son.

One day he comes to my gate to tell me a story about the 2 lads. They have gotten a hold of his gun and shot a round into the wall, which, Lord have mercy, scared the absolute bejesus out of his wife who was having an afternoon nap upstairs. My Bro, the shooter, apparently. He didn't quite get the response from me that he was looking for when I asked him how the fuck a couple of teenage kids were able to access his gun and ammunition. The 5 minutes of abuse that followed seemed to finally set in and he went off pale in the face and speechless. Moron.

    Anyway, that's probably your answer.

    That is really sad.

I also think there have been so many more mental health problems after Covid in children and teenagers and not enoughs support overall for people, especially when in some places mental health isn't talked about or shunned under the carpet to save face.

My daughter's 12... a few older kids in her class are 13... in an international school as this kid is reported to have been in. I find it unbelievable that a kid of similar age could do this. I know most of my daughter's peers and they are just... well, kids.

Too much computer gaming making nothing seem real? I could see that.

They would do. The Thais dont accept blame too well, be it running off from accidents or blaming the brakes...I remember when they got GTA banned in Thailand because ONE nutter killed a taxi driver

BBC - Newsbeat - Technology - Thailand bans Grand Theft Auto IV

In the UK when some little bastard goes off the rails you'd normally hear "I blame the parents" which although seems a tad unfair sounds a lot more reasonable to me than blaming the video game/ phone or tablet you bought him and let him play with every waking moment

well you can buy a Roller on floor three to put your new Dyson bladeless cooling fan in to take home, you'll be out of luck if you want knock off DVDs, a new mobile phone glass or case or you need to fill the boot with Korean or Jap plastic tat in shades of pink, gaudy yellow or rainbow colours.

Perhaps you missed some news earlier this year, Mendip. In a school in NakhonRatchasima province, one M2 boy killed an M4 boy - at school. With a knife. If I recall correctly, the M4 boy took the knife to school, had words with the younger lad, took out his knife, then the younger lad took the knife off him and stabbed him with it. Dead.

^^^Not this Tuesday buddy although like the op, we could do with a few more shots on target.

First person I thought of when I saw this news was Tomcat, sat there in one of Paragons swanky eateries in his checked shirt with gunshots ringing around the place telling some young cowering Thai waiter about real mass shootings and asking where his foie gras has got to

Their Majesties the King and Queen have taken all the victims injured in the shooting at Siam Paragon shopping mall on Tuesday afternoon under the royal patronage, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said.

Srettha said has also spoken to Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Han Zhiqiang on the phone to brief him on the incident in which a Chinese tourist was killed.

Srettha was speaking to reporters while visiting victims of the shooting being treated at Chulalongkorn Hospital. He had also earlier visited those who were being treated at the Police Hospital.

He said all the patients are now being under the royal patronage of Their Majesties.

National police chief Pol Torsak Sukvimol confirmed that two people were killed in the shooting. One was a Chinese tourist and the other was from Myanmar.

“I have spoken to the Chinese ambassador on the phone. The ambassador expressed his appreciation for the attention the Thai government is paying to those affected and by Their Majesties’ patronage for the injured,” he said.

Srettha also expressed confidence that the incident will not affect Thai tourist industry.

The prime minister also said that he will preside over the opening of a technology forum to be held at Siam Paragon on Wednesday as scheduled.

“Life needs to go on. We do the best we can,” he said.

1 person killed in Siam Paragon shooting, suspect is a minor

One person was killed and six others injured in the shooting this afternoon at Siam Paragon, Thailand’s biggest shopping mall in central Bangkok, after which a 14-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene.

The latest update on the casualties was given by the Erawan medical emergency service which had earlier reported that three persons died. It said the deceased was a Chinese.

National police chief Pol Gen Torsak Sukvimol, however, said two persons were killed and five injured.

Torsak confirmed that the suspect is a 14-year-old boy who has a record of mental problems. “He is not able to give police a coherent account of what happened. He only said that he was having hallucinations,” he said.

Torsak said police had yet to get in touch with the suspect’s parents before a full interrogation can be conducted.

The suspect was arrested about an hour after a gunman started shooting with a 9mm pistol at around 4 pm on the ground floor of the mall, sending hundreds of shoppers rushing toward the exits.

The gunman later fled to Siam Kempinski Hotel, located next to the shopping mall, where he was cornered by a group of policemen. A video clip shows four policemen approach the suspect who showed no sign of putting up resistance.

He was seen on his knees with his hands raised above his head as two of the policemen apprehended him and forced him to lie face down.

Police chief Torsak praised the management of Siam Paragon for its quick reaction to the incident, having the compound quickly evacuated.
