Thread: Thousands of Kilograms of Garbage Found Dumped in Chalong

About 100,000 kilograms of garbage have been found dumped in Chalong, Mueang Phuket.


The issue had been brought to light by the Facebook page ‘Monsoon Garbage Thailand’ earlier this week.

Mr. Waranyoo Boonsit, the admin of the page, told The Phuket Express that this occurred in the Kok Tanod area. A drone was evidently used to photograph and assess the current conditions in the area.

Mueang Phuket District Officer Mr. Pairoj Srilamun and the Chalong Mayor Mrs. Tanaphon Santiparb inspected the area after the news had gone viral on social media.

The Chalong Mayor, Mrs. Tanaphon, told the Phuket Express that the area belongs to the private sector. People dumped garbage nearby where the area forms a natural basin containing some water. The Chalong Municipality has placed a sign banning garbage dumping.
