New Zealand suspect wanted by FBI and New Zealand police arrested in Bangkok, Thai po

A criminal suspect from New Zealand wanted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and New Zealand Police was arrested in Thailand, Thai police reported on Wednesday, October 19th.

Thai National Police reported that Shane Ngakuru, 43, was captured in the Lat Krabang District of Bangkok on Tuesday after being wanted by New Zealand’s criminal court on June 24th, 2021, over several charges including alleged illegal business conspiracy and drug trafficking.

He was also listed as one of the prime suspects from the Comanchero MC (CMC), an international criminal and drug organization operating in New Zealand, Police Lieutenant General Jirabhop Bhuridej, Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), stated.

According to the investigation prior to the arrest, Ngakuru had entered Thailand in 2020 and overstayed his visa while staying and running several businesses with his Thai wife in Phuket. After realizing that he was being hunted by the authorities, Ngakuru fled to stay at a rented house in the Samut Prakan province. However, the police eventually tracked him down and arrested him at a shopping mall in the Lat Krabang district.

His identity was confirmed by the New Zealand authorities before being deported to the United States for prosecution and then plans are for him to be deported again to New Zealand for more legal charges.

If he's convicted in the US I assume he'll do time there.

If he were a white guy wearing a blue ribbon here in Aotearoa he'd get elected as a Member of Parliament for Tauranga.

555 on the facial tatts. Tauranga is a Tory electorate so tatts on a podgy looking body wouldn't be helpful. I'd argue the Maori facial tatts are nowadays in leftie and indigenous quarters politically correct tatts. They'd attract some voters.

...and bury any reports on his thuggish behaviour. Then if any questions are raised the leader of the opposition Christopher "I used to run an airline, y'know" Luxon would blame an emotional junior staffer for not telling him sooner.

    I meant the tatoos.

    Facial tatoos aren't allowed here.

Really? Tattoo artists may not be allowed to ink faces in Denmark, right? Would the foreign minister of Aotearoa New Zealand Manaia Mahuta because of her Tā Moko (tattoo on her chin) be barred from entry into Denmark? I may be wrong, but I doubt Minister Mahuta would be refused entry.

After a bit of a google dive I have learned that there are indigenous peoples in Greenland that also have facial tattoos. Although Greenland has some autonomy from Denmark, do the Danish laws give a waiver to Icelandic women?

No-one ever claimed that she would be, she just wouldn't be allowed to add to her facial tattoos in Denmark
