Senior Royal Thai Police officials join investigation and gives updates around foreigner’s murder at Phuket villa
Senior officials from the Royal Thai Police arrived at Phuket this morning, February 7th, to join the investigation around a foreign man who was shot more than 10 times to death at a pool villa on the island last Friday.
Based on a passport found at the scene the man was initially believed to be Canadian but later information seems to point to that passport being fake and the man actually being a different foreign national but raised in Canada for much of his life until being deported in 2016 for crimes relating to assault and alleged gang connections.
Deputy national police chief Suwat Chaengyodsuk led the national police team to attend a meeting with the investigation team from the Phuket Provincial Police Division for updates and leads in the case.
Initially, the investigation exposed that the victim was reportedly involved in an illegal business conflict. According to the investigation with the Canadian authorities, whose embassy representatives attended the meeting, the 32-year-old man had his Canadian nationality removed and was reportedly exiled due to his history with a criminal organization with records of illegal drugs trading, human trafficking, casinos, etc. It was not yet confirmed by the Royal Thai Police which nationality he was holding during the incident, however, the foreign press has reported the man as actually being an Indian national. TPN notes this report has not been confirmed nor denied by Thai police, only stating the investigation was ongoing.
Two suspects that were caught in nearby CCTV footage were presumingly the alleged shooters. The police believed that the suspects were still on the island, were likely foreign nationals, and were in the process of identifying and tracking both of them for interrogation.
Police stated that countless footprints were also seen at an abandoned house nearby the villa and in the sand along the way and around the scene, presumably belonging to the shooters who may have been discreetly observing the victim before the day of the crime.
The police investigation also revealed that the foreign man would visit and spend time at the villa every month, each time for 15 days, with a rental rate of 100,000 baht per month.
He would drive out dozens of times a day to unknown destinations with two female foreign friends, who have yet to be identified by police. He also had several expensive belongings worth millions of baht according to the Royal Thai Police, including brand name bags, 3 mobile phones, and an MG-brand rental car.
This is still a developing story and we will keep a close eye on any further updates.

Two prime suspects in murder of foreigner at Phuket villa reportedly fled Thailand already but will be tracked down for prosecution, Royal Thai Police says
Two prime suspects who are wanted for allegedly killing an Indian-Canadian national at a Phuket villa had already fled the country, the Royal Thai Police announced yesterday, February 10th.
National police chief Suwat Chaengyodsuk revealed further investigation to the press yesterday that the police found two suspected firearms that were presumably used in killing a foreigner in Phuket at Friendship Beach on the island.
Moreover, the suspects that were caught in CCTV footage leaving the villa were now identified as Canadian nationals, according to the Royal Thai Police. Both of them reportedly arrived in Thailand on December 18th as “tourists”. A valid proof of immigration and whether the documents presented were forged or not, was still under confirmation. This included if the passports presented to officials to enter Thailand were legitimate or fake, according to the Royal Thai Police.
The investigation also exposed that one of the suspects had a previous criminal record. However, the chief did not reveal if any of them was related to any criminal gang or were previously in a conflict with the victim. He only stated that they had already left the Kingdom. He also did not provide their name or full identification, citing an ongoing investigation.
Suwat said: “The two prime suspects have fled Thailand but we already know the country of their destination. It was expected that within 2-3 days, the police would gather sufficient evidence and request to foreign courts arrest warrants for the alleged gunmen. The two will be brought back for prosecution in Thailand and we expect full cooperation with foreign authorities.”
“As for anyone helping the two suspects, we believe that there were more than just two people. But whether any Thai people people involved or not, it needed further investigation.” Suwat concluded.

Two former Canadian servicemen wanted by Thai police for a murder on Phuket Island
Phuket provincial court has issued warrants for the arrest of two Canadian nationals for alleged involvement in the murder of Indian underworld character, Jimi “Slice” Sandhu, at a beachfront villa on Rawai Beach on Phuket Island on February 4th, according to Pol Maj-Gen Sermphan Sirikhong, commander of Phuket provincial police.
He did not provide the names of the two suspects, saying only that they are former Canadian military, both aged about 37 and that they left Thailand on February 6th.
He said that the Thai branch of Interpol has already coordinated with Interpol HQ to trace the whereabouts of the two fugitives, so they can sent back to Thailand to stand trial.
Two 9mm handguns, one CZ and one Walther, were recovered from the sea not far from the villa where the shooting took place.
Pol Gen Sermphan said one of the handguns belongs to a retired police officer and the other is owned by an army officer, adding that police are investigating the connection between the two Thai officers and the Canadian suspects.
The victim had reportedly been stripped of his Canadian citizenship and deported from Canada in 2016, due to his criminal activities.
According to the Thai Interpol office, Sandhu flew into Phuket on January 27th from Malaysia on a private jet and using a fake passport.

Matthew Dupre (left) and Gene Karl Lahrkamp are wanted for the murder of Jimi Singh Sandhu
Cops against bail in Jimi Sandhu case
7 MAR 2022
Thai police will ask a Canadian court to deny bail for a Canadian national, who is suspected of being involved in the murder of an Indian gangster in Phuket last month, says the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
Matthew Dupre is one of two suspects tied to the Feb 4 shooting of Jimi Singh Sandhu near Rawai Beach in Phuket's Muang district.
Mr Dupre was arrested in the Canadian city of Edmonton, Alberta, on Feb 20, and is being held in detention by the Alberta Court, pending the court's decision on Thailand's extradition request. Earlier, the Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) said an application had been filed for his extradition to Thailand.
CIB commissioner Pol Lt Gen Jirabhop Bhuridej said on Sunday he has instructed investigators to file a petition with the Canadian court to oppose the suspect's bail request. He said police are determined to have the suspect extradited to stand trial in Thailand.
Pol Col Wirachan Khunchaikaew, a CSD superintendent and chief investigator, said the documents supporting the petition and extradition request are on their way to Canada.
Vancouver Sun - Matthew Dupre
Dupre had a much more public profile than Lahrkamp with a Facebook page condemning Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and vaccine mandates, and praising Donald Trump. Several posts over the past two years have been flagged as containing false information. He has also posted dozens of photos of himself armed and in combat gear.
His LinkedIn page says he was engaged in combat with the Taliban in Afghanistan before he left the military in 2013. He later worked as a private military contractor in Syria and Iraq, where he said he was involved in battles with ISIS. His posted list of skills includes “hand to hand combat, unconventional warfare and sharpshooter.”
While I do not know his skills, I will say that LRSR he is holding is an extremely nice piece. I think its a M107. Have to see magazine clip to know. I have shot one in the past. They have dual chamber detachable muzzle brake, dual barrel springs and either a hydraulic cylinder or a long main spring to reduce the wicked recoil of a .50 cal. Those things can cap off multiple rounds and hit targets 2,000 meters away (Shooter capability of course). He could have used that gun and fire one shot in the general vicinity of the "Gangster" and the bullet velocity just whizzing by his head would have killed the guy. No entry and exit wound.
Former Canadian soldier & alleged hitman accused of killing B.C. gangster in Thailand could face death penalty if extradited: lawyer
28 September 2022
Matthew Dupre, 36, began an extradition hearing Tuesday in Edmonton Court of King’s Bench — an early step that could end with his surrender to Thai authorities for trial in the murder of Jimi Singh Sandhu.
According to a brief filed by Canada’s Attorney General on behalf of the Kingdom of Thailand, Thai authorities believe Dupre and another Canadian, Gene Karl Lahrkamp, gunned down Sandhu on the island of Phuket Feb. 4, 2022.
Sandhu, a member of the United Nations gang, was shot more than 10 times outside his villa at Phuket’s Beachfront Hotel. Thai police found large sums of money and illegal drugs during a search of the villa, “leading investigators to believe that the murder related to an illegal drug trade rivalry,” the government brief states.
Dupre is opposing extradition, arguing the Thai government’s case is too weak to establish his role in the killing.
Dupre was previously a soldier in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving in Afghanistan before joining a private security firm deployed in high-risk areas including Iraq
Lahrkamp, who is also ex-military, was killed in a plane crash in Ontario earlier this year alongside a man linked to the Independent Soldiers gang.
James Lockyer, Dupre’s lawyer, urged Justice Denise Kiss not to act as a “rubber stamp.” He said the only sentence for premeditated murder in Thailand is death by lethal injection — while acknowledging past cases in which the Thai government has given assurances such a sentence would not be carried out.
Dupre’s case is next in court Oct. 28 to set a date for Kiss’s decision.
A former Canadian soldier accused of murdering a B.C. gangster in Southeast Asia is one step closer to extradition after a ruling from an Alberta judge.
Matthew Dupre was committed for extradition Friday after Court of King’s Bench Justice Denise Kiss found the Canadian government had successfully made the case to surrender him to Thailand for trial in the death of Jimi Singh Sandhu.
Sandhu, a member of the United Nations gang, was gunned down on the island of Phuket on Feb. 4, 2022, in what Thai authorities allege was a drug-related hit by Dupre and another Canadian man.
Dupre’s lawyers argued against extradition on the grounds he could be sentenced to death if convicted of Sandhu’s murder. But Kiss said judges in extradition hearings cannot concern themselves with the issue of potential punishment, saying extradition committal hearings are a “modest screening device.”
“I note that if he is convicted, the only sentence is death by lethal injection,” Kiss said. “This is simply not a factor I’m permitted to consider at this stage of the extradition proceedings.”
<snip>
Dupre’s fate now lies with federal Justice Minister David Lametti, who makes the ultimate decision whether to surrender Canadian citizens to other countries. Canadian officials typically obtain assurances from jurisdictions with the death penalty that citizens will not be executed if surrendered for extradition.

The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth
The Thai have in the past, notably the UK, waived any possibility of a death penalty in the event of a successful conviction on a murder indictment in order to obtain the extradition of a fugitive. Quite why this has not already been canvassed at the extradition hearings is odd.
Anyway, assassination by contract would not merit a death sentence in Thailand, and certainly not in the case of a farang offing another farang particularly when both parties are worthless trash.
If he pleaded guilty and kept his nose clean he’d be out in ten years or so, and most so- called “ lifers” with a modicum of financial support do alright in more laissez faire Thai nicks as opposed to, say, the top security gaols in Britain.
Indeed, quite horrific and utterly scandalous that it should be allowed to persist in a country that plays host to myriad diplomats from everywhere in the developed world paying lip service to the notion that Thailand is not a barbaric country with no rule of law based on human rights.
Still, in relation to extradited prisoners, most are delivered AFAIK on the understanding they are treated with humanity and will serve a sentence in conditions similar to that which might prevail in their home countries, and this will be monitored.

Accused Jimi 'Slice' killer extradited from Canada

Alleged contract killer Matthew Dupre, wanted for the shooting of Canadian gangster Jimi Sandhu in Phuket on Feb 4, 2022, has been quietly extradited to Thailand to face a murder charge.
Last week, 10 members of the CSD's Hanuman special weapons and tactics unit led by Pol Col Wichak Tarom, a deputy CSD commander, and 30 members of a Royal Thai Air Force special operations unit, left Don Mueang airport on a special Airbus A340 flight for Vancouver, Canada, to bring Dupre back to Thailand.
The special flight, with Dupre on board, returned to Thailand and landed at Don Mueang airport's Wing 6 terminal on Sunday night about 11pm.
The airport was under tight security and temporarily closed. The flight was met by about 30 other members of the Hanuman unit and RTAF ground security.
From the airport, the suspect was taken by motorcade to CSD headquarters. His detention is now under the supervision of the Central Investigation Bureau.
Wtf, 10.members of the CSD and 30 royal thai special operations to go fetch the bloke who killed sandhu the gandhu. Seems a bit excessive
Any one fancy a week in Canada on the house?
Or you could of landed in heathrow by mistake. I never really noticed the indians in perth before, worked with a lot , but after a 14 year abscense i find the indians, bangladeshis , pakistanis are definately migrating here. Ive no problem with that as they tend to be hard working family orientated folk ,there are of course cultural differences .the vietnames successfully integrated here but it took a couple of decades.
