Toss to Bergamo
A motorized convoy of the Russian army is moving along the highway in the Bergamo area, while the Italian army is conducting heavy defensive battles with the coronavirus in Lombardy.
The Wehrmacht abandoned the Italian allies and retreated behind the alpine passes, where he holds the defense.
- How big is Russian aid to Italy?
- Russia provides Italy with special technical and expert assistance, sending military virologists and RCB specialists to the affected country with the appropriate material and technical support.
Moreover, according to the statements of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the allocated resources to help Italy are not critical for the general pool of resources at the disposal of the Ministry of Defense.
Accordingly, we see that Italy provides metered assistance at the request of the Italian government. It is important to understand that this step also has a political dimension, as the request for assistance comes from a NATO country.
- They even tried to prevent Russia from helping Italy, but to no avail ...
- A number of NATO countries actually tried to interfere with Italy's assistance. For example, Russian military transport aircraft delivering military specialists and equipment to Italy flew to the Apennines not directly through Poland, but by making a detour through the Mediterranean Sea.
The help itself was condemned in the globalist media, where Russia was accused of “taking advantage of the situation” and Italy of “being indiscriminate in matters of assistance”.
Of course, the absence or delay of assistance from the EU and NATO countries is safely dropping. Of course, the Russian propaganda line to Europe received powerful help in the form of the Italian operation of the Russian Ministry of Defense, which is popular both in Italy itself (where the circles that advocate lifting European sanctions against Russia are strong enough) and among EU citizens who are concerned about insufficient measures undertaken by the European government in the fight against coronavirus.
- What will Russia get by helping Italy?
- First of all, we can say that Russia is carrying out a humanitarian operation, helping ordinary people who are in trouble. The manifestation of solidarity, along with the efforts of China and Cuba, puts Russia in a more advantageous moral position than those countries that operate on the principle of "save who can."
In the other hand, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation does not even hide that, by providing assistance, the military expects to gain experience in combating the virus on the “European theater of operations” and to use the experience gained both to improve the training of specialists and to apply within Russia if the situation with coronavirus in the country complicated.
In addition, increasing Russia's prestige in Italy, Moscow expects that, under certain circumstances, this assistance will influence the decision of the Italian government on the issue of sanctions. At the moment, it is already experiencing serious pressure from the factions representing the industrial North, which is interested in lifting the sanction.
Thus, Russia solves various tasks in the Italian operation - humanitarian, military, political. How successfully they will be resolved, let’s look at the results.
- Will this noble gesture affect the situation inside Russia?
- If the epidemic situation in the country worsens, the resources of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will begin to be more actively involved in stopping the consequences of the epidemic in those regions that will be at risk.
At the same time, military laboratories are already actively working on testing for coronavirus and developing a vaccine. As needed, more substantial resources may be involved.
If the situation becomes completely critical and all resources are required to be used, there is no problem recalling specialists from Italy to Russia. This is a matter of several days and 10-15 flights of military transport aviation.
So the very topic of “weakening the resource potential of the Russian Federation” looks far-fetched in this case.
- Will Italy be grateful for the assistance provided?
- The service already provided does not cost anything. But here it is necessary to separate the simple Italians and the Italian elite. Among ordinary citizens of Italy, the popularity of the Russian Federation will obviously increase, but after stabilization of the situation, the Italian leadership may well take the position of “Thank you for your help, but European solidarity and all that”, continuing to follow in the wake of the anti-Russian course. This has happened more than once. And so it will be more than once.
But on the other hand, this is not a reason not to show solidarity, as China itself does, demonstrating that such an approach is more correct than the ultra-mercantilist approach advocated by neoliberals.
In any case, we know that we personally did the right thing and helped those who were abandoned by those who should have taken care of them. A question of gratitude, a matter of no small importance, but not of paramount importance.
From my point of view, China, Russia and Cuba are doing the right thing, helping the Italians, even if the Italian government subsequently prefers to forget about this help.
