I actually have a dog and a cat in the fight, my brother lives in Greece, and my sister in Italy, I plan to be there in April , get my Greek passport and blow this popsicle stand LOL.
Now I am wondering if I would be exchanging one bunch of I diets for another. the good news is regardless of the outcome , I should feel right at home LOL
I think i saw the Panamad Hatter above , good luck.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
^^ Buckaroo, i don't know how this ended as a cat fight but there is no need. We are all feeling the pressure, stay at home, you can't go out, one in a shop a time, wear masks, clean all the stuff you touched and bring it home with you, and clean it, go out once and exercise once each day, saninitise when you get home. If you have kids, clean them, how do you cope with making life fun for kids, how do you cope with teaching kids at home. Puberty: how do you deal with that at home..Kids not interacting - no social skills, deal with that, and on and on....... Chit and Dill in lockdown UK aint easy. Kudos.
That's why April, I believe by then I will be vaccinated and will be allowed.
I already started the process of getting a Greek passport last I was there, when i came back they required a couple of additional documents concerning my parents, My sister was able to locate them, but was unable to access them without a power of attorney. All I have to do is go there, get the documents, bring them to the appropriate agency, and it's a done deal.
Wife id studying Greek for beginners in the chair next to me right now , with an on-line program sponsored by the University of Athens. She is driving me crazy LOL
I just read the the EU has agreed on the Vaccine passport for vaccinated people to arrive in EU countries without restrictions.
You have little experience with Greek bureaucracy . . . Keep some drachma (Euro) in your shirt pocket just in case
That's be one of the toughest European languages - the alphabet alone . . .
Best of luck
@strigils - are you NPT? If you are, hello there! Any chance of updating the apartment block thread? Pics of the finished product?
Re: vaccines & PI, no news yet as to when we'll get the vaccine. I'm down on the priority list because of age & am not a health worker. I do hope that my mom will get it soon, though. She's in the priority list.
Still with vaccines, PI has ordered from Astra Zeneca, Sinopharm & Covovax (India). The presidential spokesman said that we (as citizens) don't have a choice as to which brand we'll get. He said in a press con to "not be choosy". Good luck on that - many ppl here don't like the Chinese vaccine. He further said that we could decline (and sign a waiver), but one will be placed at the end of the queue.
Btw, for those living in Asia, Maldives & Sri Lanka are now open to tourism. Maldives requires a test prior to the flight. SL requires 4 tests: before flight, upon arrival, then days 5 & 10. Also requires health insurance covering covid. Maldives has fewer restrictions but one can only stay in certified hotels/ resorts (I think).
The contract IS the issue.
EU is paying a lower price per dose ($2.2) than Britain ($4), it is normal that early customers like Britain pay a higher price and it is also normal that big quantity customers like EU (400 million doses) get a discount.
AstraZeneca should deliver the vaccine to both Britain and EU within a certain time frame but have run into production capacity problems so have decided to prioritize the buyer they get the higher profit from instead of reducing delivered quantity equally among buyers.
They have promised the British government that Britain will get the stipulated 2 million doses per week and they have delayed delivery to EU.
It is in this case irrelevant that Britain signed the contract long before EU did, it is only a matter of contracted number of doses within the stipulated time frame.
"We signed an advanced purchase agreement for a product which at the time did not exist and which still today is not yet authorised and we signed it precisely to ensure that the company builds a manufacturing capacity to produce the vaccine early so that they can deliver a certain volume of doses the day that it is authorised," Ms Kyriakides said.
Who cares who the creep Stiglice is,' he' remains the same buffoon.
The point, getting back on topic, is that AZ are clearly in breach of their contract to supply the EU member states and if they are proven to have diverted stocks to the UK whilst denuding the distribution network on the Continent then they will face legal sanction and no doubt will have to pay substantial damages for the breach. Bozo the Clown is of course an idiot but even in his narcissistic egoism his instincts must tell him that to capitalise on AZ's non-performance of its contract with the EU is a surefire way of getting his throat cut further down the line - Britain is already in a precarious position through its Brexit stupidity and will need to suck some serious EU cock if it is not to jeopardise the equivalent of even more GDP. To provoke the EP and member states over an issue of public health, and claiming moral superiority for doing so because it struck a deal a mere three months before the EU, is quite stupid. The EU paid up front back in June 2020 and AZ have failed miserably to honour the deal but supplies in the meantime continue to flow into the UK's distribution network.
I rather think the Clown will have to backtrack.
But as everything about post - Brexit bombast spouted by Bozo is usually nonsense, lies or simply wishful thinking, I daresay the AZ vaccine is less effective than others now coming to fruition. The EU should now divert all EU produced vaccines to its own member states and block exports to third country Brexitania and reclaim the millions of Euros it paid to AZ.
It could as a humanitarian move of course exclude Scotland and NI from the embargo.

‘Nervous’ China accused of silencing families of virus victims
Surely, even you cannot be that bone-headed stupid??
The fucking logic, dumbo, is that irrespective of the UK contract, the contract the EU entered into has been breached by AZ and therefore as the defaulting party AZ will have to offer a remedy for that breach, which in this case is a distribution that represents an equilibrium offering a compromise between all, in this case, three parties. Understand now, you raddled pinhead?
AZ are likely in breach, but the remedy under contract law doesn't necessarily work the way you are suggesting.
The remedy is financial but in these circumstances Bozo will broker a compromise by releasing stocks to the EU. Otherwise his "British" company is going to get fucked in the fiscal ass and Brexitania will be lined up for its just desserts in time to come.
Bozo the Clown: Hi AZ, belay the next delivery scheduled for next week and divert it to the EU as part performance of their contract - we have enough headroom to pursue current vaccination plans for the next two weeks.
AZ: ( Dalek voice) No, no no. You must take delivery. We are in control. We cannot deviate from the planned distribution. We will destroy you even though you paid already.
You fucking idiot.
^ its almost like you are there. I assume you pen Mills and Boon to supplement your pension as you have a penchant for creative, if not flower laden fantasy script.
How can someone be legally liable for someone dying of a virus? That would be a funny court case.
Anyway, if you are going to get into a breach of contract dispute, best to have your ducks in a row:
EU officials were angered after AstraZeneca CEO Pascal Soriot disclosed a number of conditional parts of the contract in an interview Tuesday with La Repubblica.
EU officials then confirmed on Wednesday that the Commission agreed to give the company a €336 million down payment to secure manufacturing capacity for the 27 EU member states. But a significant portion of that sum hasn't been paid out.
Novavax, one of three companies the (Australian) Federal Government has struck a deal with to distribute COVID-19 vaccines in Australia, said its offering appears 89 per cent effective based on early findings from a British study.
Findings based on the trial also found that the vaccine seems to work — although not as well — against new mutated versions of the virus circulating in the UK and South Africa.
While the numbers are still very small, the 89 per cent figure is based on the combination of the vaccine being close to 96 per cent effective against the older coronavirus strain and nearly 86 per cent effective against the new variant.
The announcement comes amid worry about whether a variety of vaccines being rolled out around the world will be effective against new variants.
The study of 15,000 people in Britain is still underway, but an interim analysis found 62 participants so far have been diagnosed with COVID-19 — only six of them in the group got the vaccine and the rest received dummy shots.
The infections occurred at a time when Britain was experiencing a jump in COVID-19 caused by a more contagious variant.

Oh look, no attempt at all to address the points that have shown your incessant whiny fucking drivel to be as factless as usual.
Let me thrust the dagger home (not up your arse, although you'd probably prefer that).
The eurotrash have no-one to blame but themselves for their own delays and their failure to meet their contractual commitment to pay for manufacturing facilities. Astrezeneca will have a highly paid team of lawyers ready to destroy them in court, as they will have appointed a set of useless greek, portugese and spanish unknowns into highly paid legal positions as is their wont.
Reports of legal action against the company — potentially from Italy, as well as calls for a European-level lawsuit — for not meeting its contracted deliveries, didn't appear to faze Soriot, with the CEO insisting he was confident in the wording of the company's agreement.
The EU “contract is very clear: Our commitment is, I am quoting, ‘our best effort,’” he said. It was drawn up this way because AstraZeneca and its partner Oxford University had already signed a deal with the U.K. government for 100 million doses, and was committed to delivering them, while the EU deal for 400 million doses was signed three months later, with the bloc wanting them to be shipped concurrently.
“We said, ‘OK, we're going to do our best, we’re going to try, but we cannot commit contractually because we are three months behind U.K.,'” he said, adding the company knew it was a “super stretch goal."
You gormless idiot, the consensus among the legal pundits is that having stated they would employ their " best efforts" to abide by the contract and deliver on approval of the vaccine, AZ have pretty much painted themselves into a corner and will have to apportion stocks accordingly. AZ are currently playing it the way they are because they are awaiting Bozo's inevitable political intervention permitting AZ to divert stocks to the EU states.
Also, if action is mounted against AZ then AZ will fold at the first opportunity not least because no pharma company is going to fuck with a market of 500 million consumers jointly represented by a trading bloc that fucked Microsoft up the arse, you prat.
