BANGKOK (NNT) - Connectivity between road, rail, and river public transport has helped provide greater convenience for commuters, as well as tourists who can now easily access community based tourism attractions. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) organized a recent media trip to see the development of public transport coordination to take more tourists to Khlong Bang Luang community.


This discovery trip started with a BTS Skytrain journey from National Stadium to Bang Wa station, connecting to a boat ride from Bang Wa pier to tourism attractions along Khlong Bang Luang canal developed as a historical and cultural tourism neighborhood on the Thonburi side of Bangkok.


The BMA has constructed a new water gate and water treatment facility to maintain a good environment in the canal, and improve the villagers’ livelihoods while promoting tourism for all who come here .


Interesting attractions in Khlong Bang Luang community include Wat Kamphaeng Bang Chak temple established in the Ayutthaya era, a botanical garden featuring a collection of rare herbs, Khlong Bang Luang floating market, Khlong Bang Luang museum, and the Artists House. The walking street is lined with many shops selling toys, souvenirs, and other goods. Notable shops include the Pinto bookshop, a Thai massage parlor, and an 80-year-old coffee shop.


Tourists can visit Khlong Bang Luang by taking a BTS Skytrain to Bang Wa terminal station on the Silom Line, then take a boat from the station to Khlong Bang Luang.
