Thailand and China Agree to Enhance Military Cooperation

Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha met with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe here on Sunday, and the two sides agreed to further enhance military cooperation.

Thailand adheres to the one-China policy and is willing to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, Prayut said. Adding Thailand hopes to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation with China. Prayut said he welcomes more Chinese investment in Thailand as the two countries mark 45 years of diplomatic ties.

Thailand’s premier said he hoped the two countries would further strengthen military cooperation in equipment and technology, joint exercises and joint training, as well as multilateral security.

Wei said that under the guidance and encouragement of leaders of the two countries, bilateral relations have maintained good momentum with bountiful fruits yielded in all areas of cooperation. China appreciates Thailand’s firm support on issues concerning China’s core interests.

The Chinese military is willing to implement the consensus of the leaders of the two countries in deepening pragmatic cooperation, strengthening high-level communication and maintaining coordination within multilateral framework to jointly safeguard regional stability.
After the meeting Thailand and China signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on defense cooperation.

Wei arrived in Bangkok Friday on an official goodwill visit to Thailand.

Russia, Thailand pledge to deepen military-technical collaboration

    11 February 2019

Russia and Thailand have agreed to strengthen military-technical collaboration paving the way for expanded defence trade and industrial engagement. The agreement was announced following talks in Moscow on 8 February between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his visiting Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai.

“Today, we reaffirmed our desire to improve the contractual foundation of our relations, deepen co-operation in countering new threats and challenges, and developing military and military-technical co-operation,” Lavrov said in a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. No details were given by the ministry, but it follows the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on military-technical co-operation between the two countries in September 2017.

It's not the first time Thailand has worked with conflicting countries...if Thailand got in bed solely with US or China, it would be significantly enfeoffed considering the gap of military, economical, political power...while talking with other great rivals equalise the talks ... negotiations are open make an offer...

China signs defence agreement with South Korea as US angers Seoul with demand for $5bn troop payment

    The Telegraph•November 19, 2019

The defence ministers of South Korea and China have agreed to develop their security ties to ensure stability in north-east Asia, the latest indication that Washington’s long-standing alliances in the region are fraying.

On the sidelines of regional security talks in Bangkok on Sunday, Jeong Kyeong-doo, the South Korean minister of defence, and his Chinese counterpart, Wei Fenghe, agreed to set up more military hotlines and to push ahead with a visit by Mr Jeong to China next year to “foster bilateral exchanges and cooperation in defence”, South Korea’s defence ministry said.

Seoul’s announcement coincided with growing resentment at the $5 billion (£3.9bn) annual fee that Washington is demanding to keep 28,500 US troops in South Korea.

That figure is a sharp increase from the $923 million that Seoul paid this year, which was an 8 per cent increase on the previous year.

As long as the unscrupulous profits flowed, doesn't matter as to who the business is attained toward.
Traditional good guys or bad guys, graft and corruption is colour blind.
