NHA adds 10,000 housing units to Million Home campaign

BANGKOK, 24 November 2018 (NNT) - The National Housing Agency (NHA) has added 10,000 more housing units to the Million Home campaign with an affordable price from 250,000 baht each.

NHA Governor Tachaphol Kanjanakul said the agency has prepared some 10,000 units under the campaign for low-price housing project provided by the Government Housing Bank (GHB) in 35 projects across the country.

Housing units by the NHA which comply with the GHB's campaign are available from 250,000 baht.

The GHB has launched the Million Home campaign with a 60 billion baht budget to provide special loans with a five-year repayment period and 3% interest rate for the purchase of a house at up to one million baht in price. The bank expects the loan to be offered for the purchase of 30,000 units in its initial phase.

The NHA will kick off its campaign in late-December and currently allows interested persons to check the listing on www.ghbmillionhome for the first batch of 30,000 units. Those who wish to purchase houses but are ineligible under such campaign may consult with the NHA to find alternative financial options.

Bangkok's abandoned 'ghost' towers still stand 20 years after crash

The abandoned Sathorn Unique Tower in Bangkok has remained empty since construction was halted in 1997. CNN was taken on an exclusive tour inside the tower.

Upon its completion in 2016, the 314-meter MahaNakhon was named Thailand's tallest building. Offering luxury shopping and some of the most expensive properties in Bangkok, the glitzy skyscraper symbolizes a city on the rise.

But amid a construction boom in the Thai capital, the skeletons of long-abandoned buildings remain part of the expanding skyline. They stand as monuments to an economic crash that is slowly fading from view.

Less than a 20-minute drive from the MahaNakhon, a dilapidated high-rise called Sathorn Unique Tower has stood empty for two decades.
