BANGKOK, 21 November 2018 (NNT) - The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is on track with its 10-year personnel employment plan, with 1,900 jobs to be provided for next year's operations of dual-track railways.
Acting SRT Governor Voravuth Mala said the SRT will hire new staff according to its 10-year plan, starting from next year, to fill in the state enterprise's need for some 8,000 workers.
The cabinet has decided to spare the SRT some regulations to allow the national railway operator to start hiring more staff from fiscal 2019 and to submit plans for business restoration, technology application and others to the State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO) and subsequently to the cabinet for approval.
The SRT will propose the restoration plan along with the staff hiring plan to the SEPO which will lead to the opening of 1,904 jobs next year.
The SRT plan to increase staff number will comply with the national transportation infrastructure development plan of the Ministry of Transport, which will require more personnel to operate services on dual-track railroads which will be opened in the next few years as well as future projects such as high-speed railways and expanded rail networks.
