Government urges public to join special walk-run to promote good health

BANGKOK, 28 August 2018 (NNT) — The government is urging members of the public to join a special walk and run project aimed at promoting good health and safe food consumption.

? Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Chatchai Sarikulaya on Monday chaired the meeting to arrange the Great Food - Good Run 2018 project, which is scheduled to take place on December 22 and 23.

The meeting was joined by representatives of related agencies, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Interior, the Metropolitan Police Bureau and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

All agencies planned to join the event with a number of special activities, performances and the sale of such products as organic farm produce and the government’s Blue Flag products, as well as an educational program to boost public awareness about healthy food and how farmers can increase their income.

In the walk-run program, the winner will receive a trophy from Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha while the proceeds after the deduction of all expenses will be offered to foundations and funds working to help people.

The initiative was launched after statistics showed there are more than 14 million patients being treated for non-communicable diseases and over 400,000 of them had died, mostly due to risky lifestyles and behavior.

Was only a few months ago they were warning folk to stay indoors due to the pollution in Bangkok.

Oh well, I guess they'll act like filters and help Lulu and AO suck it up for the rest of us
