More summer storms predicted into next week

NONG KHAI, 16th March 2018 (NNT) – Summer storms are predicted to continue through this week and next, with authorities already providing aid to those affected so far.

Relevant agencies have dispatched agents to several areas of Nong Khai province after summer storms lashed 28 villages in 13 sub-districts of four of the province’s districts. A total of 51 homes reported damage alongside two rice mills, a temple and one rice silo.

Similarly in Nakhon Panom province, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation office agents joined with military personnel, local administrators and volunteers to clear out debris blocking roadways and remove trees that were felled by storm winds on to residences. Heavy rains and strong winds, which included hail, on March 14 damaged a reported 194 homes in the province’s Nakae, Thatpanom, Srisongkram and Ponsawan districts.

The Meteorological Department forecasts that weather conditions from now to March 19 will be mostly cloudy and rainy with storms expected on March 20-21, from the central to the northern regions due to the collision of a low pressure front in the area and a high pressure front from China. The south can also expect scattered showers during the period.

Summer storms to bring thundershowers on March 20-23

UTHAI THANI, 18th March 2018 (NNT) – Thundershowers and gusty winds can be expected in districts of the central plain and the lower northern region between March 20th and 23rd.

Citing the Meteorological Department’s recent announcement, Uthai Thani Deputy Governor Mitree Tritilanunt said on Saturday that eight provinces will be battered by summer storms namely Sukhothai, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan, and Uthai Thani.

A high air pressure system from China is blanketing the upper part of Thailand and will move into the northeastern region on Tuesday, March 20th.

Mitree also asked members of the public to take precautions when leaving their homes and avoid standing under or close to large trees and billboards, adding that the agricultural sector should also prepare for possible damage to their crops.

Rescue units, responders, and local officers will be on 24-hour standby in the event of an emergency.

    Here it comes.
    Pre-Songkran.
Weather patterns have been in flux, more or less, for the last decade plus. Arrives earlier every other cycle.

No such beast as the traditional "hot and dry" season [mid-February through April].

In the 18 years that I've been going to Chiang Mai at the end of March it has always been

    - Hot
    - Humid
    - Smokey

The smokey part has always been in varying degrees dependent on the occasional rainstorm.

There has never been any "flux" about it Jeff.

Maybe you should consider actually going there rather than spouting off about what you think it's like.

You really shouldn't speak of random things that you know nothing of.
Starting to sound like the infrequent "visitor" that pretends to understand.

And you also demonstrate your complete inability to understand even basic English.

Had a real nasty storm hit here. Hell of a mess. Trees, power lines and roofs blown off. Had a dozen neighbors hunkered down in Norton's bomb shelter.

A third warning against summer storms issued

BANGKOK, 19th March 2018 (NNT) – The Meteorological Department has issued a third warning of summer storms on March 20 to 23 with the Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs instructing the armed forces to prepare to provide aid to those who are affected.

Thunder storms and strong winds are forecast for the upper north this March 20-23 with hail expected in some areas due to a high pressure front colliding with warm weather in the Kingdom. The front is expected to arrive on March 20 before covering Bangkok on March 21.

Citizens have been told to be wary of the inclement weather and to avoid being out in open areas or under trees or billboards in stormy conditions. Farmers have been told to safeguard their crops and to closely follow weather reports.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Maj Gen Kongcheep Tantrawanich meanwhile, announced that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has ordered the armed forces to prepare to provide assistance to citizens where needed by preparing equipment and coordinating with local administrations. The forces will also aid in warning members of the public and instructing them on how to stay safe.

At the same time, Deputy Commander of the Bueng Kan Peace and Order Maintaining Command, Col Suphatra Chutinant led soldiers, administrators, village headmen and officers of Nam Jun District to perform repairs to homes impacted by harsh weather as part of the “Altruistic Hearts: We Love Doing Good” royally inspired program. Damage in Nam Jun District has affected Lao Kam School, two villages and at least 400 rubber trees.

Any time up to the 26th will do.

I know when I can't see the mountain when I land that a wheezy week awaits.
