Thread: Lasio (Myanmar) now off-limits for Brits

Due to the bomb last week in Lasion, when 2 bank employees were killed, the UK Foreign Office has now advised Brits not to travel to Lashio.

This is a (very) slight 'bummer' for me, because my school has a branch in Lashio, and it is a town that I considered as a possible place to work sometime in the future (as a teacher, it's possible to 'rotate' between different school branch locations).

Still, better to stay where I am, rather than be blown to bits in Lashio.

Once the FO advise against travel to a location, one's medical/travel insurance is not valid if you get injured in that region. (And there's nowt more painful than being injured in your Lashio region...)

There were also 3 small bombs in Sittwe (Rakhine State), but I wouldn't be going anywhere near there in the first place.
