NAKHON RATCHASIMA, 24 February 2018 (NNT) – Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayaphaisit inspected the construction of Highway 226, which is expected to be open for traffic in June.

He observed progress in the construction of the highway on Uthumphon Phisai - Sisaket stretch and Ban Nong Lum - Sisaket stretch, which starts from Nakhon Ratchasima through Buriram, Surin, Srisaket, and ends in Ubon Ratchathani.

The construction is now 86 percent complete with delays being caused by heavy rains but will not affect the construction timeframe, with the opening of the highway expected in June.

Additional works such as the paving of asphalt, installation of signals, illuminations, and safety equipment will be completed before Songkran festival in April. Zebra crossings and warning signs will be placed in front of schools for safety reasons.
