Thailand's Meteorological Department has issued a warning, to residents in the northern parts of Thailand, about thunderstorms forecast from now until this weekend.

According to an announcement from the Meteorological Department, a moderate high-pressure trough from China is moving into Thailand’s Upper Northeast and the South China Sea, colliding with a hot air mass in the region. Such a phenomenon is expected to cause heavy rains and gusty winds, followed by a drop in temperature by 2-4 degrees Celsius.

For safety reasons, the department has reminded people in the affected areas to refrain from being in the open air or under a large tree or billboard. Farmers are also encouraged to take precautions against crop damage.
