BANGKOK, 18th February 2017 (NNT) - People of the Hua Ta Khe community in Bangkok have been collecting garbage to clean up their area prior to a campaign to promote ecotourism in the community.

Minister of Tourism and Sports, Weerasak Kowsurat on Sunday joined a bike ride and went on to collect garbage by boat with members of the Hua Ta Khe community. The minister said the community is facing a bigger problem of garbage and waste disposal since people from other areas have moved to live there. Many sectors need step in to help solve this problem for the Hua Ta Khe community in a bid to develop it and attract tourists, he said.

Hua Ta Khe is an old community with a famous 100-year-old floating market.

Apart from collecting garbage by boat, the community people rode around on motorcycles and a bicycle to help remove trash from the area. All of the collected garbage will be gathered at Hua Ta Khe Market for sorting and proper disposal.
