SONGKHLA, 16 February 2018 (NNT) – Songkhla has planned to provide Pracharat internet service for some 400 villages in the southern province, upgrade farmers as Smart Farmers and support local e-commerce.
Provincial Statistics official Mookdarat Suwanrat confirmed the Pracharat broadband internet campaign by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has completed the installation of necessary equipment to provide internet service in 436 villages in Songkhla.
The campaign aimed to provide broadband internet connectivity at 24,700 villages nationwide in order to push the country towards the Thailand 4.0 model.
Access to the broadband network will provide villagers with access to news and information, and help reduce social inequalities.
Farmers will benefit from broadband access to acquire knowledge necessary for their upgrading as Smart Farmers, while local businesses will have better facilities to run their e-commerce services, which will help improve their marketing opportunities and help with local tourism.
