BANGKOK, 15th February 2018 (NNT) – Private sector firms have banded together to organize “Medical Devices ASEAN 2018” in response to the government’s desire to have the medical industry serve as a key economic driver.
Medical Devices ASEAN 2018 will bring together over 150 examples of medical technology from companies across the globe ranging from surgical tools and orthopedic rehabilitation devices to radiology equipment, information technology and non-renewable medical materials.
The event will include business negotiations spanning the entire ASEAN region and technical seminars to expand knowledge of medical technology usage. Meanwhile, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Public Health Dr. Marut Jirasetsiri has voiced confidence in the current level of development of Thailand’s medical devices industry and in its potential for growth, noting his wish to see the development of more medical devices that can be used by patients in the home.
Director of the Bangkok Health Research Center of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Co Ltd, Dr. Chaiyos Kunanuson, today confirmed his organization’s readiness to support Thai medical devices makers in better meeting consumer demand with more domestically manufactured products.
President of the Thai Medical Device Technology Association, Preecha Phantivej said today that Thailand’s medical device sector has great growth potential but is currently hindered by production capacity. He said business ties to technology firms and support from the state in research and marketing as well as tax incentives could allow Thailand to become Asia’s center for medical equipment.
Medical Devices ASEAN 2018 is taking place this July 11 to 13 at Impact Muang Thong Thani and is expected to see over 4,000 in attendance.
