PEA builds 65 dykes in Trat

TRAT, 15 February 2018 (NNT) – The Provincial Electrical Authority (PEA) of Thailand has completed the construction of 65 water retention dykes honouring His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.

The Deputy Governor of the PEA's Area 3, Prakan Wongput, presided over the opening ceremony of the PEA "Pracharat" Water Conservation campaign, which includes the construction of 65 dykes and the solar powered water pumps system in Khao Saming district, Trat province.

The project has been carried out to honor His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of His birthday on July 28th, to realize the royal wishes of Her Majesty Queen Mother Sirikit, and to support the plants conservation project from the royal initiation of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The dykes were built using old and unused utility poles, which is considered the reuse of unused material for the benefits of communities and the society.

Constructed facilities also support Utokapat Foundation, which works on water resources development, and promote sustainable development on the construction of water reservoirs for consumption, farming, and environmental conservation.

The opening ceremony also included the release of 50,000 fish to the reservoir, and the planting of 10 hopea odorata trees.

So there's 65 dykes in Trat. How many in Thailand? There's one at the end of my street, been there for a couple of years now. Do you have any dykes near you? Just wondering..
