BANGKOK, 13th February 2018 (NNT) - The Social Security Office (SSO) has implemented the government policy of raising child allowance to 600 baht and offering 13,000 baht per child birth.

The Secretary-General of the SSO, Suradej Waleeittikul, said the government has encouraged Thai people to have more children, as Thailand will become an aging society in 2021, when 20% of the country's population will be aged 60 years old or older. Mr. Suradej said the move will help increase the declining birth rate while ensuring a sufficient workforce in the future.

He said cash assistance to families with children under six years old will be increased from 400 baht to 600 baht a month.

He went on to say that the insured shall receive the conclusion of medical service cost on a lump sum basis amounting to 13,000 baht per child birth. Furthermore, the insured shall receive compensation benefits for maternity period for 90 days.
