BANGKOK, 10th February 2018 (NNT) - Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has shown admiration for and given encouragement to state officers who perform their duties with integrity and give primary importance to the people's common interests. He has also told them not to be discouraged and to set a good example for later generations.

The prime minister also gave as an example the Department of Corrections’ punishment of corrupt deeds of government officials, such as demanding money from relatives of prisoners, bringing mobile phones to prisoners and being involved in drug dealing.

Also cited as an example of appropriate behavior was the case of the head of the Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary who had led a force to arrest offenders who collaborated in wildlife poaching. The Prime Minister emphasized the fact that the government is serious about the suppression of all kinds of misconduct. If in fact proved guilty, offenders must be subject to the justice process and be punished according to the law without exceptions.

In regards to the protection and restoration of areas for the conservation of forest resources and wildlife, the importance of demanding rectitude among those in authority is evident in the policy of demanding the restitution of the nation's forests, problem-solving for land trespass by licencing access, encouragement for people to coexist with the forest, collecting fees for entering parks to be used in taking care of natural resources, and increasing the abundance of wildlife in its natural habitat.
