German siblings who cycle the world arrive in Thailand

YALA, 8th February 2018 (NNT) - Two German siblings who are riding their bikes around the world have arrived in Thailand after taking their journey to Turkey, Australia and Malaysia.

The duo, Nathanael Arndt, 28, and Johanna Arndt, 26, entered Thailand from Malaysia via Narathiwat province. The siblings made a stop in Yala province to rest and had a meal amid police security.

They said local residents had been very friendly and welcoming since they arrived.

They will soon begin their journey to Chiang Rai where they will cross the border into Myanmar. It will take them approximately three weeks to reach the northern province.

They will end their global journey in Nepal. It will have taken them six months in total to complete their mission.

Let's hope they've adequately modified them for the task.

Someone should open a book on whether or not they get totalled by Somchai driving his beat up pick up reaching down to retrieve a dropped cigarette.

Odds are even they don't make it further than Khorat.

Evens is overs, I'd put it at more like 1.35. Can't remember all the details of that poor bastard from some Sth American country a few years back who'd successfully cycled thru most of the world before getting here, only to be dead in no time flat. The chimp that cleaned him up got the typical 500 Baht fine + Wai for the cameras, and his widow and child got something like 15,000 Baht in compensation. To cycle in this country is like Russian Roulette but instead of there being 1 bullet in the revolver, all the chambers are full except 1.

Update it was all a tragic mistake as the left brake failed

Should have skipped Thailand from their world tour...

I'll give them 10:1 against making it in one piece.

I was in Bangkok last weekend staying on Suk 11. Saw an older couple mid to late 50’s pull into the hotel on a tandem bicycle. I asked the lady how far there going and she told me they had come from Laos. I was surprised they made it into Bangkok without getting killed. They must have made it out I haven’t read anything about two westerners getting run over on a bike.

Wondering that the Thai reckless drivers are behind the poor cyclists not only in Thailand but also elsewhere?
