PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 3 February 2018 (NNT) – Royal Irrigation Department (RID) Director General Thongplaew Kongchan disclosed that heavy rains in Kui Buri district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, have filled up Yang Chum and Huay Wang Ten reservoirs and caused an excessive amount of water to overflow before flowing into Kui Buri canal.

The water level in Kui Buri canal has risen and the water could not be drained off into the sea. The floodwater level in some low-lying communities near Kui Buri River was about 30 - 50 centimeters high and is likely to subside gradually. The flood situation on Phetchakasem Road has also begun to improve.

It has already stopped raining and the floodwater levels in various areas have begun to subside as well as the water level in Yang Chum and Huay Wang Ten reservoirs.

Prachuap Khiri Khan Irrigation Project has reported on the water situations in both reservoirs to the Kui Buri District Chief Officer so that they can warn villagers in flood-risk areas to move their belongings to a high place and cooperate with local authorities to eliminate water barriers in order to drain the floodwater into the sea faster. The situation would return to normal within two days if there was no more rain.
