MOAC invites people to Bangkok's Winter Festival

BANGKOK, 3 February 2018 (NNT) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is inviting the general public to Winter Festival during 8 February - 11 March at Royal Plaza.

Chiang Rai Horticultural Crop Research Center director Sanong Charintorn said the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) has decorated the venue of Winter Festival at Royal Plaza in front of Dusit Palace with some 240,000 flower trees, arranged beds of bright and colorful flowers filling the area in front and behind the statue of King Rama V the Great.

The venue will feature a fountain decorated with flowers, illuminated with the color of pink representing King Rama V the Great, and the color of yellow representing King Rama IX.

A flowerbed of orchids in the shape of Royal Barge Supannahong will be featured in front of the venue. The arrangement of the flower display will be completed by 5 February 2018.

Winter Festival is being arranged at the order of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun to showcase the royal accomplishments of King Chulalongkorn and King Bhumibol Adulyadej to the general public in a retro theme which will take visitors back to the Thai history.

The event, which will show the importance of the monarchy and its relations to the Thai society and the livelihood of Thai people from past to present, will be open daily during 8 February - 11 March 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until 9.00 p.m. Admission is free of charge. Visitors are encouraged to get dressed in traditional Thai clothes or other appropriate attire.
