BANGKOK, 29 January 2018 (NNT) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has launched a campaign to repaint 15 old neighborhoods in classic colors starting from February.
Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang said he has instructed 50 district offices in the capital city to survey and call for cooperation from old building owners to repaint their buildings with classic colors in the campaign designed to improve the city's urban landscape.
He said Bangkok is a popular tourist destination which is home to many old buildings, while the campaign will help promote the orderliness and preserve the cultural identity and heritage of the city.
An initial phase of the campaign will cover 15 neighborhoods, namely the area around the City Hall, Sam Phrang intersection, the wood vending area near Khlong Ong Ang Canal, the Bamrung Muang Road area, Pak Khlong Talad Flower Market, Ban Mo, Khao Sao Road, Tani Road and Soi Kraisri, Nang Loeng, Rommaninat Park, Yaowarat Road, Khlong Ong Ang Canal area, Khlong Padung Krungkasem Canal area, Chiang Mai Road area, and Pai Singto elevated walkway.
