OBEC improves measures to prevent school bullying

BANGKOK, 29th January 2018 (NNT) – The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) is preparing a plan to prevent bullying in schools, after a recent survey shows that Thailand has the world's 2nd highest percentage of children being bullied at schools.

According to the survey conducted by the Department of Mental Health, about 600,000 children are being bullied at schools each year, and 40 percent of these children are bullied by their peers.

The OBEC Secretary General, Boonrak Yodpetch, said his agency is currently working on a plan to tackle this issue. The plan will then be presented to the Education Minister, Dr. Teerakiat Jareonsettasin, for consideration.

Mr. Boonrak said violence at schools cannot be handled by the OBEC alone, and all concerned agencies must join hands to solve it.

    The rest by their teachers.

Is there a Thai system where bullying isn't endemic?

Why bother? Isn't it considered as normal behaviour to abuse feeble people, people believed to be lower class, poorer... The sooner they get used to it , the better.

^Normal behavior for even some on this forum.

It is all good of the minister to say this, but what are they actually going to do to put this in action?

It takes all involved in the school including admin, teachers, and parents to deal with the issue. I can't see much changing overnight that's for sure.

Worthy and virtuos goal, however example comes down from olders and aherm "betters" .Without Islam Coommunism or Democracy to give structure Darwinian greed and bullying are endemic, why else would bribery and corruption be the norm .Thosw with a vested interest i.e anyone even half a rung up the ladder for the hoi polloi the great unwashed masses has something to lose.

While mongering ads are acceptable soft porn and misogny and homphobia the everyday banter of fora, surprising that bullying is condoned
Russia went from being 2nd strongest army in the world to being the 2nd strongest in Ukraine
