BANGKOK, 27 January 2018 (NNT) – Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC) has launched Bangkok Design Week 2018, the first ever national creative festival in Bangkok.

TCDC held an opening ceremony for Bangkok Design Week 2018 held in cooperation with 60 government agencies and private companies presenting creative and design works in the first-ever national level exhibition in the creative neighbourhoods of Charoenkrung, Khlongsan, Rama I, and Sukhumvit in Bangkok.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Science and Technology Minister Suvit Maesincee said the event, held with the theme The NEW-ist Vibes, allows visitors to explore the future of Bangkok for its living quality, gastronomy, and creative business opportunities, through 230 activities and 500 works from designers and creatives.

Highlights of Bangkok Design Week include the pavilion made from recycled plastic in front of the Grand Postal Building, the concept model of a floating park at CAT building pier by Chao Phraya River, the Siam Design Site exhibitions at Siam Center, Siam Discovery, and Siam Paragon shopping malls.

The TCDC anticipates 500,000 visitors will participate on the 9-day run of this event which is being held for the first year.

Bangkok Design Week's activities are taking place from today until 4 February 2018 at several locations in Charoenkrung, Khlongsan, Rama I, and Sukhumvit neighbourhoods, or at the TCDC located at the Grand Postal Building on Charoenkrung Road.

He added that Thailand planned to nominate Bangkok as candidate for World Design Capital this year, making Thailand being focused among the global community as the destination for tourism and design, drawing creative workers from around the world to the country and creating more jobs related to creativity and design.
