METROPOLITAN POLICE Division 1 chief Pol Maj-General Zenith Samransamruadkit has assigned a team to investigate the misidentification of a corpse, resulting in a Si Sa Ket man being declared dead and his family holding a funeral and cremating an unknown dead male almost seven months ago.

Sakhon Sacheewa, a 44-year-old fisherman, returned to visit his hometown on Sunday after working on a boat in Nakhon Si Thammarat for 14 months, only to find out that his family thought he was dead and had cremated someone else’s body.

"Sakhon’s relatives had earlier claimed that the body had protruding, intact front teeth while Sakhon was missing a front tooth, but morgue officials insisted the body was too decomposed for identification and rushed them to collect it for religious rites. "

Teeth don't match, but there's too much decomposition, just accept that this corpse is your reltive.
    FFS.

And Social Security is demanding the funeral assistance be paid back. FFS.

You can do anything to peasants.

Just keep the wrongly buried man's relatives updated on his health, so when he dies they can organise his funeral in return.

    Should balance things up

^ Yeah. Currently, the family want compensation for the wrong death cert (200 000 for the funeral, apparently ), Social Security want 90 000 funeral assistance et al paid back, and meanwhile the family of the actual dead guy...what happens? Will the family of the live guy demand recompense?
    Crazy.

Man stuns family when he returns home months after his cremation ceremony in Thailand

A THAI man shocked his family when he came home after he was declared dead and cremated six months ago.
“I was so confused. My mother said, ‘You’re dead. How can you come back?’ I lost all my energy at that point,” he told local TV Thai PBS.

Sakorn Sachiwa, who was believed to be dead, spoke to local TV Thai PBS about his relatives' reaction when he returned homeSakorn Sachiwa, 44, explained he returned home after having worked for almost two years in other parts of the country, and he is now reclaiming his identity.
Sakorn, who's from the north-eastern province of Sisaket, was believed to have passed away after a police officer in Bangkok found his identity card on a dead body.
His relatives were told in May to travel to Bangkok to bring back the body, but were unsure about the identity of the corpse – it had all its teeth intact, while Sakorn was missing his front teeth.
An official cremation ceremony then took place without the man's knowledge.

Sakorn is now reclaiming his identity at a local administration office.
He says he lost his identity card and had not been in touch with his family members since he left home two years ago.
District chief in Sisaket, Pornchai Wongngam, said the process to reinstate his identity will take a few weeks.
According to reports, Sakorn's family asked elders in the village to confirm that the man is in fact Sakorn.
A police investigator said the case will now have to be reopened to determine the identity of the body that was cremated.
