A former senior official of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) fell to his death from the 8th floor of a condominium in Muang district of Nonthaburi province on Monday (Sept 11) evening.
He was identified as Pol Col Niran Adulyasak, a former chief of the DSI’s office of technology crime cases. His death was reported to Nonthaburi police by his son, Pol Lt Col Kawin Adulyasak, a traffic inspector of Bang Po police station.
Pol Lt Col Kawin said his father retired a year ago. After the retirement, he lived in house No 20/66 in Soi Ram Intra 3 in Bang Khen district.
Sufferring from back pains, Pol Col Niran frequently went to exercise at the sport club on the 10th floor of the condominium, Pol Lt Kawin said.
On Tuesday, after the exercise, Pol Col Niran went down to the car park on the 8th floor, from which he fell to death on the ground.
The cause of his fall to death was being examined by the province’s forensic science centre. His son, Pol Lt Col Kawin, initially told the police investigator that he saw no reason for his father to commit a suicide.
Pol Col Niran, a Class 31 graduate of the Police Academy at Sam Phran. He served in the police force before transferring to take the post of chief of the office of technology crime cases of the DSI.
Pol Col Paisit Wongmuang, the DSI director-general, said Pol Col Niran’s death had nothing to do with the DSI’s handling of a land corruption case in Phannga and the death of Thawatchai Anukul, a former Phangnga land official accused of fraud in the case. Thawatchai died while in the DSI’s custody.
