BANGKOK, 3 July 2017 (NNT) – The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) is accelerating its efforts to inform steelmakers in Thailand on the standard of steel products for usage in the Thailand-Sino Railway Project.
TISI Secretary-General Phisit Rangsaritwutthikul said the construction of the Thai-Chinese rail project between Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima would use domestically manufactured steel, assuring that the material will be on par with international standards.
TISI has invited representatives from associations and organizations related to the steel manufacturing industry in Thailand to brief them on material standards in order to have Thai steel manufacturers adjust their products in compliance with the requirements of the railway project and other projects in the future.
The 252-kilometer rail project would require hundreds of thousands of tons of steel, which could be supplied by the Thai steel manufacturers, he said.
