    MOL joins hands with private sector to provide elderly care training to Thai workers

    BANGKOK, 7 June 2017 (NNT) – The Ministry of Labor (MOL) has cooperated with the private sector to provide elderly care training courses to Thai workers.

    Mr. Theeraphol Khunmuang, Director General of the Department of Skill Development (DSD), disclosed that the DSD had signed an agreement with Aranyarak Boriban school and Sakura school in Fuji, Japan, to jointly train elderly caregivers, in order to meet the needs and qualifications of the Japanese labor market.

    They also visited the Ning Ning Shang Hiakhu Nursing Home which is the nursing home for the elderly in Japan in order to maximize the training curriculum's efficiency.

    He added that during the year 2015-2016, the DSD had organized training for over 800 workers in the field of elderly care and helped in the creation of 286 workers in 2017 in 10 provinces including Chiang Mai, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Phayao, Lamphun, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Amnat Charoen, Sa Kaeo and Chonburi.

    Thai women have been providing care for the elderly for generations. It's a mutually supportive rental arrangement. Care in the community. Most of them require little in the way of training, just a little financial incentive.
