    Chinese Embassy donates items worth 1 mn bt to flood victims in Songkhla

    SONGKHLA, 12 January 2017 (NNT) - The Chinese Ambassador to Thailand and the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Songkhla province delivered relief aid worth one million baht to the local affect public.

    Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Ning Fukui and Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Songkhla Zhou Haicheng delivered necessary items worth one million bath and 2,000 survival bags to the flood victims in Songkhla province.

    The items were received by Deputy Governor of Songkhla Anuchit Trakulmuthuta and will be further delivered to the flood victims.

    The Chinese Ambassador to Thailand noted that the floods in 12 southern provinces had affected over one million people and resulted in enormous losses. He provided moral support to the flood victims and encouraged them to overcome this crisis, assuring that he was willing to help Thailand, as is the hospitality and the generosity of a good neighbor.

    US Govt provides $100,000 donation for southern flood victims

    BANGKOK, 12 January 2017 (NNT) – The United States will deliver 100,000 US dollars in donation for flood victims in the southern region of Thailand.

    US Ambassador to Thailand Glyn T. Davies released a statement saying the US government will donate the 100,000 US dollars for southern flood victims.

    The donation will be provided through the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok to Save the Children in emergency relief. The fund, channeled through the United States Agency for International Development, will be used to support Save the Children’s relief efforts in the flooded provinces.

    "On behalf of the American people, I offer my sincere condolences and sympathy to the people of Thailand for the losses of lives and damages caused by the flooding in southern Thailand,” says the US ambassador.

    When I first read the headline I thought "Oh gawd....this means the Chinese are advance-greasing and they have plans to rape and pillage the South.
    Then the second article of the one-upmanship by the US reassured me that the Chinese will have some resistance......depending on which Thai official promotes which source of wealth.

    Neither donation is all that much, really, but good to see the US trumped the Chinese offering.
