    Krabi accommodations almost fully booked

KRABI, 30 December 2016 (NNT) – Accommodations in Krabi province were almost fully booked by foreign visitors, with some 500 million baht in cash expected to circulate during New Year season.

A number of tourists at Ao Nang bay, Krabi, waited in line to purchase long-tail boat tickets to visit aquatic attractions in the province’s archipelago amidst tight security measures.

Boats had been inspected for readiness in safety features such as life-saving vests and the eligibility of captains and crew members who were obliged to have operating licenses. Passengers are required to wear life vests on board while officials are taking measures to see to it that no boats will carry too many passengers beyond capacity.

Krabi Tourism Business Association president Wattana Ruangsamut said the accommodations in the seaside province were 90 percent booked, especially at Ao Nang bay, Koh Pi Pi island and Koh Lanta island. The tourist industry in Krabi is expected to generate some 500 million baht in revenue during New Year season. -

One can only imagine the horror of those beaches over the next two weeks and the seas around them as fill up with the effluent pouring into the surrounding bays from overflowing cesspits.
    Paradise lost, indeed.

That is correct Thegent, any of the Tourist places in High season are rammed full with muppet tourists.

Krabi is a great little spot outside high season though and usually free of the other problems in Phuket or Pattaya.

A family destination mainly free from mongering scum.

Have you been there lately tel?

We were regular visitors, but not recently.

Nothing I've heard about the province lately has been good, and it seems the 'scum' level has been riding inexorably.

Still, the apparent 'Swiss style' organisation mentioned in this report sounds admirable.

Yep, I was there only six months ago, we go in the off season.

I like it down there because of the Family atmosphere and lack of trouble.

Good hotels at a great price in of Season. Will go down again this year.

Need wheels, makes all the difference, heaps to see around Krabi.

Is that 90% of the registered hotels or 90% of the rooms available.

For sure it is registered Hotels, Krabi is balls deep in Hotel Rooms, can get one any time by just rocking up.

The 90 % full just makes their stats look good.

Thank goodness we made excuses and didn't go with friends. They were a party of 17 when they invited us a few days ago. Initially we accepted, but realised that a party of 17 (19 with us in one of their cars) on a big holiday to a popular destination was just going to be a nightmare of disorganised procrastinating, uncalled for stops, women and children wanting more stops, decisions (taking an hour to make) to divert to a famous noodle shop 10 km's off the route that turns out to be a mediocre noodle shop not worth crossing the road for, more waiting, dangerous driving, getting lost, more waiting while they discuss what to do next, more disappointments with food, more waiting while the spoilt kids are placated, crammed into 3 cars with all the women's luggage being OTT too much, only to arrive and have no rooms.

It was otherwise an attractive offer as the guy is a superintendant with the Forestry and Parks and promised a day on a non-tourist island, as well as Lanta.

Wise move to beg off going. Would be a holiday in hell with no way to escape.
