Taxi Driver Jailed For Steel Pipe Road Rage Assault

BANGKOK — A taxi driver was charged Wednesday morning with assault for allegedly beating another motorist with a steel pipe.

Taxi driver Bawornpan Srimek was sent to jail for six months for attacking the driver of a Mini Cooper near Phetchaburi Road’s Phrom Pong intersection in the Makkasan area.

Sutthinan Polsin told police he had been trying to cut into Bawornpan’s lane, but the taxi driver wouldn’t let him in and honked his horn. Sutthinan then cut the taxi off and got out of his car to confront the driver.

Seems that the drivers of Mini Coopers here in Thailand are a bunch of arrogant cnuts; probably think they're doing a chickenhead version of "The Italian Job" or something.
Bawornphan has been put in his place with a six month prison sentence, though. I would probably add another 2 months to that for not hitting the prick hard enough.

It was not a steel pipe it was a vehicle towing device! I've seen them for sale at LPG stations. There is even a picture showing one of the other uses which is not towing

Sutthinan Polsin told police he had been trying to cut into Bawornpan’s lane,
Pick your space and go , don't whinge your way to the front and then try to worm your way in. Feck Off! I probably wouldn't have let the prick in either.

Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.
You people, you think I know feck nothing; I tell you: I know feck all

Plus possibly a year of community service for the victim if he had union jack mirrors?

My first thought, along with, "If it hadn't been a Mini driver but a Click rider, the taxi guy would probably have gotten away with it".

Yep. Daily occurrence, either from the left or the right.

Charged on Wednesday morning and jailed by today? Seems uncharacteristically quick for Thailand?

Impossibly quick. I suspect an error in translation...more like "sentenced on Wednesday"
