BUENG KAN, 6 December 2016 (NNT) – A cold front over the northeastern region has caused a gusty condition in Bueng Kan, prompting fishermen to steer clear of the Mekong River for safety reasons.
Bueng Kan province is experiencing cloudy weather, accompanied by gusty winds, as a result of a high-pressure trough spreading from China to upper parts of Thailand. The condition has brought cool air, morning fog and light showers to the area. The lowest temperature has been recorded at 20 degrees Celsius in the province while, on mountaintops, the figure ranges from 9-16 degrees Celsius.
Strong winds measuring 15-35 kilometers per hour have discouraged residents of Tha Pho Village in the capital district from going fishing in the Mekong River due to safety concerns. The halt in operation is affecting local income.
The Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation of Bueng Kan has advised local fishermen operating small boats to refrain from leaving the shore. Those with larger boats are urged to proceed with extreme caution against accidents.
