    General Chalermchai appointed the new army strongman

    General Chalermchai Sitthisart, the assistant army-commander-chief, has been appointed the new army commander-in-chief to replace General Teerachai Narkvanich who is due to retire at the end of this month.

    General Chalermchai is among 798 high-ranking military officers reshuffled which was announced in the Royal Gazette on Friday.

    The other important appointments announced include General Surapong Suwan-ath, the chief-of-staff of the armed forces, was named the new supreme commander; General Phisit Sitthisarn, army chief-of-staff, becoming the deputy army commander-in-chief; Lt-Gen Apirat Kongsompong, commander of the First Army Corp, becoming commander of the First Army Region; Lt-Gen Piyawat Narkvanich, an army advisor, becoming commander of the 4th Army Region; Maj-Gen Thammanoon Vithi, commander of the 9th Division, becoming deputy commander of the First Army Region; Maj-Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd, government spokesman, becoming a resource person of the army; and Maj-Gen Veerachon Sukonthapatipark, deputy government spokesman, becoming a resource person of the army.

    Air Chief Marshal Chom Rungsawang, air force chief-of-staff, appointed the new air force commander-in-chief; Colonel Wutthichai Narkvanich, deputy commander of the 9th Division, appointed the new commander.

    The new appointments involving 798 officers will become effective as of October 1.

    I'm guessing government bureaucracy newspeak terminology.

    Nor does the original manner in which it is presented [news source/journalist] shed such light as to define items for the reader nor bothered to inquire regarding rhetorical translations.
