Shops selling to Chinese tourists raided

CHIANG MAI - Police on Friday raided a resort and five shops accused of selling shoddy and overpriced products to tourists, mainly Chinese.

Officers also said they believed the businesses were owned by foreigners through Thai nominees.

selling shoddy and overpriced products to tourists,

Enforcement of the law was aimed at protecting Thai businesses
..... selling exactly the same shite to tourists.

the police and their masters are completely shameless.

About 100 (yes, 100) tourist police, soldiers and officials of the Business Development Department

Most of the goods on sale in this increasingly pathetic country are substandard, overpriced, and produced with little regard to legislation, workers rights or consumer protection yet the authorities choose to waste their time conducting a highly publicised raid on three or four shops selling tourist tat to chinese tourists.

The third world joke that is thailand is surely beyond salvation, and its only purpose is as a receptacle for the worlds naive dross to fly into and out of to "enjoy" two weeks of illusory fun at the hands of its avaricious inhabitants.

Roll on next month and my return to civilisation.

The Chinky fodder currently imported into the Thai tourist industry are low end dross and of little concern to anyone. Their only purpose is to provide an income stream for the Chinky companies that operate in Thailand in partnership with Thai who are content to take their cut as they herd the cattle around. Presumably, this operation has been mounted at the behest of envious Thai who are pissed off they have missed the boat and are losing out to their more savvy competitors who are creaming it.

Here in Pattaya it is bonanza time and a minority of Thai have become millionaires out of the business.

I get to watch the Chinese tourists buses from my balcony, at a Chinese Tourist attraction venue in Bangkok - they roll in to the yard, they get out and are herded into a large tin shed (the restaurant) then they "spew out" shortly after into Touristy shops selling Crap.

Chinese ALL THE WAY...probably only the bus driver is Thai

Two buses every 30 - 40 mins during the day. Good money for the Chinese businesses I guess. Not so good for the Zombie Tourists I suspect.

As usual in Thailand, jealousy rears its ugly head, it's envious Thais who want the money, nothing to do with caring for tourists.
    Thai greed is good.

A new condo was built near me, they're all being rented out to Chinese tour groups. I stopped off at the restaurant for lunch once when it just opened, standard Thai fair in a standard Thai restaurant at the bottom of a newly built condo.

Checked out the menu outside the door - Rice and omelet: 180b. Chicken Flied Rice: 340b.

Still, would have rooted the waitress, if she wasn't taking a dump under the table next to us.

All good as long as a percentage of the profits flow through the artificial Thai economy.....and elite/mafia types receive their cut.

Have a gander at Lao, it's all chinky business. In a way they are providing a service that the Lao can't do, and doing it cheaper. I deal with a lot of Chinese in Vientiane and there spoken Lao ain't great but neither is mine, makes it interesting to do business and not get fucked over, it's taken a while to build the trust and initially it was all cash transactions. But now i TT directly. Likewise I buy a lot of parts out of China, online when the money hits there account they send the parts. Works good. These days the Chinese copy parts aren't that bad. And fuckin cheap
