Muslims Slam Allegations of Plot to Destroy Buddhism

    By Teeranai Charuvastra
    Khao Sod English

BANGKOK — Muslim activists asked the junta today to take legal action against a Buddhist group for spreading religious hate speech on social media.

The complaint, filed by a group calling itself Muslims Love Peace, against a Facebook page called Wake Up Buddhists, provided the latest example of the escalating tensions between the two faiths in recent years, expressed both online and offline.

Seri Madtohed, who filed the complaint along with a dozen other Muslims, said the Buddhist Facebook page’s allegations that Muslims are plotting to hijack important institutions and replace Buddhism as the main religion in Thailand risks creating hatred and division.

Really, who needs a plot to destroy Buddhism?

These monks can take care of that very well by themselves, thank you.

We should have a thread on how many Farang Thai sons actually take up the Monk hood.
My Son doesn't want to know, about becoming a Monk for a while.
    Anybody's son been a Monk?

My son is eight and my not-particularly religious wife was thinking of having him (*) do his bird, as it were. I don't know why due to her afore-mentioned lack of religiosity (just because some of his friends had already done it, I suppose.

Anyway I find organised religion as sinister as fuck. I suggested to the wife that temples are probably riddled with paedos a la catholicism and got the boy a stay of execution.....

(*) sorry been watching downloads of the classic TV show 'Minder' so now I'm in the mood to talk like a mockney twat

Muslims are plotting to ... replace Buddhism as the main religion in Thailand
Yes, because that's obviously just round the corner, isn't it. No doubt, in the minds of these fucking idiots, this is another of Thaksin's plots to undermine the country. But if these dickheads really want to get all protective about their religion, instead of freaking themselves out with non-existent plots by Muslims, they should start worrying about the vast numbers of Christian missionaries up in the North; there's a huge and relentless effort at proselytizing round here.

    This was the complaint:

    ถ้าล้มธรรมกายได้ ต่อไปก็จะไปไล่บี้ยัดคดีให้วัดต่างๆจนเกิดวิกฤติศรัท ธา..และอีกไม่นานอิสลามคงจะเป็นศาสนาประจำชาติไ ทย..

I'm not sure about you, but I don't see much evidence that 'planting bombs, shooting teachers and beheading monks' is causing large numbers of Buddhists to become Muslim. In fact, pretty much none of the southern insurgency is even directed at that; it's a political movement which aims at changing state arrangements (it's interesting that those who shout loudest about Thailand being a Buddhist nation are also often the same people who are most resistant to changing governance in the south - no idea how they square that circle). But up in the north there is very obviously a large scale effort to convert Buddhists to Christianity. It's not hugely successful but if your concern is with protecting the status of Buddhism, you would be a lot wiser to turn your intention to Christianity than to Islam. Of course, you would be a lot wiser still to be worried about technological change but then that almost never registers as a factor in any of this.

    Indeed.
The handful of Buddhist hierarchy have missed the boat with mal intent, trickling down.

I thought most of the victims of the southern insurgency were in fact muslims, that wouldn't help achieving this secret plot...

The decline of Buddhist principles in Thai society might indeed be more related to a change in the mindset of thai people, considering that even monks and moregenerally the practice of buddhism in Thailand tends to be more materialist than before ... so that's no wonder that, for any Somchai, having things means "happiness"...tha

I don't know where you're getting your figures for the proportions of Muslims and Christians in the population from but those from the national census are for the years พศ 2551, 2554 and 2557, respectively:

    Muslims: 5.6%, 4.6%, 4.2%

    Christians: 0.7%, 0.7%, 1.1%

The proportion of Muslims has declined by a quarter but the proportion of Christians has increased by about half. If you were a Buddhist ethno-nationalist, which trend line would be most disturbing?

As for the rest of your post, it's just another random collection of lies and nonsense.

Honestly, what is the fucking point? The news forum always involved a fair bit of rough and tumble, which is fine, but it's now just a cadaver picked over by maggots like you and piwanoi. Frankly, you're welcome to it.

Can't green you, but well said.

Some of the posters on here share the same religious fanaticism as the likes of ISIS supporters.
