PHUKET: Police are hunting for three men after one man was shot dead at Phuket's Chalong Pier last night and another was seriously wounded.

Ilayas Malee, 28, died from a shot to the neck at the motorcycle parking spot near the pier.

His 18-year-old companion was wounded in the shoulder and leg and was being treated today in Vachira Phuket Hospital.

Both groups of men are believed to have chosen to relax at the pier about 10pm when they got into an argument that ended when one man pulled a homemade handgun and shot the other two.

Officers from Chalong Police Station are investigating.
