The Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade says the prices of various basic necessities are beginning to lower.
According to Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade Bunyarit Kanlayanamit, consumption items of which the prices have dropped significantly include chicken, eggs and pork.
However, Mr. Bunyarit dismissed claims that the falling diesel prices had caused most products to become less costly, as fuel prices helped reduce production costs by no more than one percent.
According to him, cheaper diesel price has only contributed to a fall in the prices of heavy goods such as construction materials, while the prices of raw materials determined the retail prices of most products. He also pointed out that Diesel price has already dropped by 20 percent so far.
The Director-General also confirmed that the price regulation scheme would be in line with the Ministry of Commerce’s policy despite the appointment of the new minister.
