BANGKOK, 4 July 2015 (NNT) – Excise Department authorities have joined forces with police and the military to bust an illegal factory in Bangkok.

Authorities have arrested two workers in the unlicensed factory and seized more than 40,000 liters of home-made liquor worth over 10 million baht during the operation. According to the Excise Department, the impounded drink led to a loss of 980,000 baht in excise duty.

The busting of the illegal alcohol distiller is part of the Excise Department’s campaign aimed at stemming an influx of illegal goods into the market. The department has in addition assigned a special unit to observe sales activities of alcohol outlets and bars around educational institutions to deter underage customers.
