BANGKOK – British National Matt Prior, 26, who was beaten by a bouncer outside Sugar nightclub in Bangkok is now being faced with a US$10,000 bill after the management, who admitted the blame, refused to pay much more than US$500.
The family of Matt Prior, who all live in Puckeridge UK, are now asking for help covering his steep medical bill.
Matt was told the costs would be covered by the Bangkok club, but the offer was later revoked by management when the extent of his injuries were revealed.
Mr Prior, who teaches English and runs a football team in the Thailand, had to have part of his hipbone inserted under his left eye socket to save his sight.
Matt had taken a bottle of vodka into the club, and bought one mixer, before being told he was too drunk and asked to leave.
While waiting for a taxi home, a bouncer suddenly floored him with a single punch.
Matt lost four pints of blood over the course of several days.
Recalling the attack, he said: “We got showed to our seats and bought mixers, had one drink each and was then told we had to leave because they thought we were too drunk. We weren’t."
