A network of Thai environment groups has demanded the US Congress to investigate two American oil companies for their alleged employment of fracking technique in oil exploration in the Northeast.
The network’s demand was contained in a letter submitted to the US embassy in Bangkok on Monday.
In the letter, the network accused Chevron and Apico Korat of using over 100 types of toxic chemicals in fracking technique in oil explorations in Ban Namoon, Kranuan district of Khon Kaen and in Tha Kantho district of Kalasin.
Although the Energy Ministry assured that there was no danger or health threat in the employment of tracking technique, the network has insisted that the technique is dangerous and wanted the practice to stop.
