A speeding Mercedes driven by a British tourist
It would appear that the cause of the accident was determined in the first sentence.

And how did they measure the speed of the vehicle?

Mercedes driven by farang + one dead cop = speeding

An equation we all know only too well.

^ Actually you're wrong on that one. I managed hit a cop, pulled out in front of him while learning to drive on the left side of the road about 6 years ago. Sent him to the hospital, he hit me hard enough to tear the plastic front bumper and grill off my car with a Honda Wave. Absolutely nothing happened, the supervisor who arrived wanted to know if I had been drinking, and I had not. I did admit fault and apologized. I was not even taken to the police station. My insurance must have paid for it because I never heard anything else about the incident.

I actually know the driver. He was a bit of a speed merchant though.
On another note...He gave up drinking quite a few years ago, started drinking those non alcoholic brews.

^ I reluctantly keep my motorcycles, and use them far more than the car because they are so much more convenient. Between gridlock traffic and finding a parking space in many places, the motorcycle is so much easier to use.

Sadly this is a deadly convenience.

During your visits to the psychiatrist you will have noted that there is never a motorbike parked outside?
